The 3 Alchemists

Real People ~ Real Manifestations

Stop self sabotaging, take action!

Recently I have been thinking about why some of my goals take so long to actualize in my life.  For example, here are things I have been waiting on for a long time:

I'm sure everyone who has done any self-development in their life can relate to those goals.  But here's the thing - I always thought I would be presented with a new job opportunity or this great new idea would just pop into my head.  That's because sometimes it does work that way - manifestations are a great thing.

But what about when I want to generate a new business idea or get the new job coming into motion right now?  Do I sit down and hope for the opportunities to come for me?  Isn't that the great thing about manifesting? I can tell you that that is what I have been doing and it isn't very effective.  Based on my experiences, when you want something to happen you have to get up and take action in order to get it.

If something is not manifesting itself in my life, I am probably getting in the way of it somehow.  And if I am not taking action on manifesting something, it is usually because I have some fear holding me back from making it happen.  So if I am not coming up with a new business idea, I need to think about why that is happening.  It has to be a result of a fear of failure, fear of success or excuses such as not having time or energy.  Once you look at the real reason behind why things aren't in motion, you realize how ineffective that is.  Then you go to the next step to get closer to your goals.

So back to my example, if I want to have a new business idea, I can't just think about thinking about a new business idea.  Maybe writing down a list of ideas would be a step in the right direction, but there has to be something more effective to do in order to get things rolling.  Once I realized that I have to take small, specific steps to move toward my goal of finding a new business idea, I did some research on how I can figure out what I should be doing.

And of course, once I set out to find tools to find a new business idea, a few friends went out of their way to recommend methods that worked for them.

This is what I came up with so far:

The Passion Test - This book is all about being clear about your values.  It's not a business book per se, but it's a keeper for anyone who really wants to figure their life direction out.

Thirtydaychallenge.com - I am a few days into the 30 day challenge.  It's about doing market research on a niche product/service to find out if you should pursue the business.  I am currently at a sticking point because I have been too general about my interests so far, but it does help to see what the current buying and internet searching trends are.

Stevepavlina.com - Steve had this great article about pursuing your career or business venture based on your inward values rather than your skills.

From these sources (and a few others), the message that I have been getting is "figure out your passion ASAP and get moving."

So I am taking action to find my passion and when I do find it, I will be sure to declare it on this blog.
