What Do I Want And Why Do I Want It Game

Posted on June 15, 2009 in the Goals, Law of Attraction, Manifesting, Namaste's Posts, Real Life category

I’ve been studying a lot of Abraham Hick’s materials these past few months.  If you are not familiar with Abraham Hicks check out their website at www.abraham-hicks.com for more info.  To me the following quote sums up their work perfectly….

For every pleasing thing, there is an unpleasing counterpart, for within every particle of the Universe is that which is wanted as well as the lack of that which is wanted. When you focus upon an unwanted aspect of something in an effort to push it away from you, it only comes closer, because you get what you give your attention to whether it is something that you want or not. It is up to you to focus upon and attract what is wanted.

— Abraham

I’m really making a point to incorporate the lessons Abraham teaches into my life.  What I’m finding is that focusing on what I want, instead of what I do not want, is a skill.  It is so easy to talk about the things I do not want.  It is so easy to put my attention on what is NOT working.  I know that by focusing on what I do not want, I’m only bringing it closer to me.  I know it, yet I still do it.  I’ve realized that me talking about what I do not want is a habit.  It actually is just as easy to talk about what I do want.  I just have to create the habit of doing that.

I was talking to my girlfriend a few weeks ago about this situation.  Her name is Regina by the way.  She is a law of attraction coach.  Her website is www.magnetic-ally.com.  What qualifies her to be a law of attraction coach?  Her real world experiences with the law of attraction.  Most people go to law of attraction seminars, read law of attraction books, and listen to law of attraction audios and do nothing with the information.  She takes what she learns and applies it again and again and again.  She is intense!  I love getting coached by her because she isn’t coaching me based on some info she read about.  She only coaches based on what her experience have shown her to be true.  She’s been studying and applying the law of attraction for 12 years.  Her experience and depth of knowledge on the subject is incredible.  I learn something new from her every time we hang out.  I’m a really lucky guy.

Sorry I got off on a tangent there for a second.  Like I said Regina and I were talking about how it really is a skill to talk about what we want, instead of what we do not want.  We ended up coming up with a game to help us create the habit of talking about what we want.  We call it the WHAT WE WANT AND WHY WE WANT IT GAME.  When we catch ourselves talking (or thinking) about what we do not want, we stop, and then we correct ourselves by saying what we want and why we want it.  It feels SO GOOD when I do this!

To remind ourselves all day long that we are playing this game we each wear a rubber bracelet.  Regina’s bracelet says “WHAT DO I WANT?” on the front.  On the back her bracelet says “WHY DO I WANT IT?”  She had her bracelet made at www.wristbandconnection.com.  It was the only site that would allow her to make only 1 rubber wrist band.  All the other rubber wristband sites wanted her to order 100 or more for the initial order.  The total cost for her bracelet and shipping was under $15.00.  I didn’t have a bracelet made because I already wear my white ONE bracelet everyday.  I’m a big supporter of the ONE organization.  Their goal is to fight against extreme poverty and hunger, particularly in Africa.  I included the info on the ONE organization because I wanted to see if you caught it.  Did you?  What am I talking about?  Look at what the ONE organization is focused on.  They are focused on fighting extreme poverty.  Guess what they are attracting more of by focusing on extreme poverty?  You got it!  Talking about what we want, instead of what we do not want, really is a skill that everyone could use.  The goal of our game is to keep our bracelets on the same wrist for 21 days (everyone knows it takes 21 days to create a habit).  We switch our bracelets when we catch ourselves talking about what we do not want and correct ourselves by talking about what we do want.  We’ve been playing the game now for about two weeks and so far I haven’t been able to keep my bracelet on the same wrist for an entire day.  That’s ok though because I’m in the game and one day I really will only think and talk about what I want!

Can you imagine how cool it would be to ONLY talk about what you want?  I’m chomping at the bit for this experience.  I really
believe it will speed up my manifestations a thousand percent.  I invite you to play the game with Regina and I.  Please send me an e-mail if you’d like to play the game.  When we get 5 people playing, I’m going to begin collecting stories from everyone about how their manifestations are speeding up.  Once a month I’m going to send those stories out in an e-mail to everyone.  I’m going to close this blog post with my favorite quote from Abraham Hicks, “Life is SUPPOSED to be fun!”
